Meet Jay
McTimoney Animal Practitioner and Musculoskeletal Specialist
Where it all began…
I have always thoroughly enjoyed spending time with animals and learning about common issues they face and what helps them. I grew up with horses, dogs and cats and spent a lot of time riding and training before heading off to university to study my undergraduate degree in Zoology where I gained a Bachelor of Science (with honours), graduating in 2004.
Since my bachelor’s degree, I have enjoyed a career centred around dogs, working professionally as a trainer and behaviourist since 2003 and for an assistance dog charity since 2007. Since 2004 I have worked with owners of gundogs, supporting them in their training and am an accredited Kennel Club Instructor and Gundog Club Instructor.
This has allowed me to gain a real insight into working dogs and given me the opportunity of lots of ongoing learning and real-world experience. I have developed an insight into the incredibly important balance between mind and body.
And now…
I qualified in 2020 as a canine and equine Clinical Massage Therapist and in 2022 gained my Master of Science degree in McTimoney Animal Manipulation (Chiropractic) which is the only university validated course of its kind in Europe.
As a qualified Veterinary Chiropractor and McTimoney Animal Practitioner I am a member of the McTimoney Animal Association (MAA) and the Animal Health Professions’ Register (AHPR), committed to ongoing professional development each year to ensure my knowledge and skills remain as effective as possible. I currently also sit on the board of the AHPR as Director of Regulation & Compliance.
I am fully insured to treat and will work closely with vets and other professionals such as Veterinary Physiotherapists and Hydrotherapists.
I offer McTimoney animal chiropractic treatment alongside soft tissue techniques such as massage and myofascial release and cold light laser therapy to give a comprehensive holistic and effective musculoskeletal treatment.
“Jay has treated all three of my dogs on numerous occasions, each dog has a different tolerance level and Jay is great at working with my dogs at their own pace to ensure each enjoys the session and has a positive association with treatment. It's lovely to see how calm and relaxed each dog is after their treatment.”
